New Zealand's former first-class cricketer Mark Coles has reached Karachi to take charge as Pakistan women's team head coach.
Coles, who served Pakistan women's team head coach from 2017 to 2019, has been reappointed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee chairman Najam Sethi.
Upon his arrival in Karachi, Coles said he is excited to be back in Pakistan. "I am honoured to be back here," he said.
"I am really looking forward to joining the ongoing Pakistan Cup and see some exciting talent," he added.
During his previous stint, Pakistan achieved major results, including a fifth finish in the ICC Women’s Championship 2017-2020 that paved the way for the side to feature in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022.
Also during his time, Sana Mir became the most successful ODI spinner in the world, Javeria Khan and Bismah Maroof were named to lead a multi-nation Women’s Global Development squad and Nida Dar became the first Pakistan woman player to earn a contract in the WBBL.
Coles' first assignment as head coach would be in August when South Africa will tour Pakistan to play three ODIs and as many T20Is.
